All our deliveries are fulfilled via Amazon. If you've recieved a notification that your parcel has been delivered but you can't find it, please first check:
1) Did you put the address correctly on your order?
Please check your order confirmation to confirm you have given your delivery address correctly and get in touch with our customer support team if you haven't
2) Has it been left in a safe space around your property?
The courier may have left the delivery somewhere around your property so please check the outside of your home and garden, in or behind bins or sheds or any safe place they might have left it.
3) Has someone else accepted the delivery?
Please check with all the members of your household to see if they took the package inside, as well as with your nearest neighbours.
If you have checked all these things, please allow 24 hours and then please get in touch with our customer support team.
Please check your spam folder, or any other email addresses you might have used when buying your game. Sometimes when buying online, autocomplete might input an email address you don't use very often, so please check all your email accounts.
If you can't locate it, the most likely reason is a typo made in your email address when ordering, so please get in touch with our customer services team with your name, address, and the date you ordered and we can ensure your confirmation is resent to the correct email address.
Contact us as soon as possible and we’ll try our very best to change the address on your order. We do aim to get orders out as speedily as possible though, so we might not be able to change your address if the shipping process has already started.

If you wish to return Outsmarted, you have 14 days to inform us of this decision, and 14 days to complete the return. Please not we can't accept opened games or games not returned in the same condition you received them in. To request a return, please get in touch.
If you purchased Outsmarted from another retailer, you must contact them directly to return your purchase!
No problem, just send our customer support team your order number and licence key and we'll be happy to swap it for a different question category!
Prices in the app vary with exchange rates, and different costs apply for merchant transactions via different platforms. Therefore prices in the App store or Google Play will generally not match the website prices. Please check both before purchasing to ensure you are getting the best available price for your purchase. We cannot offer refunds for purchases made due to price fluctuations between the app and website as these are an everyday occurence.
No, you can't activate the app to play Outsmarted until your game arrives - your licence key to activate the app is in the box!
A "bundle" is the Outsmarted game, purchased with question packs included. There are various bundles available for purchase on the Outsmarted website. Buying in a "bundle" offers great savings from purchasing the elements separately!
When you purchase a bundle, the physical box is no different from the standard game. However, additional question packs are included with your purchase. These question packs are a digital product to go alongside the physical product of the game board. You need to activate the multipacks in your game to use them. You can download instructions to do that here. If you didn't recieve your redeem code by email, please contact our support team and we can provide it!
The Big Bundle includes an additional 3,500 questions across 16 exciting question packs.
8 of the additional packs are adult & teen only packs:

If you were sent a special offer via email, please check the details of the offer. Discount codes and special offers are always for specific websites, specific products and specific dates, so please ensure that you have noted the instructions given on the offer.
If you are still experiencing difficulty, please contact our support team for help.
Sorry, but no. All our special offers are only available for the time shown on the offer details.
The licence key is a 16-digit number included in the game box (this may be an alphanumeric string for older versions of the game), which you use to register your copy of Outsmarted to unlock the app and all its features. Without your licence key, the Outsmarted app will be locked, only allowing you to enter a join-game code to join someone else’s game.
Please get in touch with our support team for assistance.
Please contact our support team and they will assist you with recovering it! To recover it, you will need to know the email address you registered with. Please be aware that we cannot issue replacement licence keys – you must find the email address used to register the app.
Yes!
You can register the Outsmarted app on up to three personal devices, so if you get a new phone, you can simply install the app on it and register it using the same licence key.
But my licence key doesn't work!
The most likely reason is that some ink has rubbed off the card! Contact us for help getting the correct code.
But will I lose all my question categories or progress?
No, this all remains the same!
What happens if I register the app on more than three devices?
Should you get to the point where you are registering the app on a fourth device, a warning message will be displayed and, if you continue with the registration, all other devices will be asked to re-register the next time they start the app. That maintains the maximum devices registered on one license key at three.
When you buy a bundle, multipack or question category from our website, we’ll email you a redeem code which is used to activate your new content in the app. Redeem codes are not needed for question categories bought inside the app itself, as these activate automatically.
When you make your purchase from our website, you’ll receive an email with your redeem code or codes.
To activate, open the Outsmarted app and start a new game. Step 3 in your pre-game set-up is the “SELECT YOUR SIX CATEGORIES” screen. Once here, enter your redeem code in the redeem code box on the top right of the screen, and select the "REDEEM" button. That’s it - your new question pack is now unlocked and ready to use.
To download a full guide, click here.
If you ordered from our website and didn’t get your redeem code, please check your spam folder. If you can’t find the email, please contact our support team for assistance. If you purchased a question category inside the app, you won’t receive a redeem code, as the pack will be activated automatically.
This is almost always due to a typing error. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish characters sent by email, so please copy the code from your email and paste it into the app. If this doesn't work, please get in touch with our support team and we will be able to help!
If you have a smart TV
1) Make sure your iOS device (iPhone or iPad) is connected to the same wifi network as your TV
2) On your iPhone or iPad, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to access your control centre. Tap "screen Mirroring" and select your TV or casting device (e.g. LG TV, Roku stick, or Chromecast) from the list.
If that didn’t work / you don’t have a smart TV.
If you have an Apple TV box you can cast from your iOS device to your TV, even if it’s not a Smart TV
If you don’t have an Apple TV box you can still connect your iOS device to your TV manually with an HDMI cable. Depending on the make and model of your TV, you’ll likely require a Type A HDMI cable, along with the right adapter to connect to your Apple device.
If you have a smart TV
1) Make sure your Android device is connected to the same wifi network as your TV.
2) On most Android devices you simply go to "Settings > Connected devices > Cast screen" and select your TV or casting device from the list (e.g. LG TV, Roku stick, or Chromecast). However, it varies by device, so please search online for relevant instructions.
If that didn’t work / you don’t have a smart TV
Don’t worry, you can still connect to your TV. Just pick up a third-party casting device, like Chromecast or Roku – which can be purchased online. Alternatively, you can connect to your TV manually using an HDMI cable. While a wired setup isn't as convenient as casting, it's very straightforward and reliable. Depending on the make and model of your TV, you’ll likely require a Type A HDMI cable, along with an adapter to connect it to your device.
If you have a smart TV
1) Make sure your Windows 10 or 11 device is connected to the same wifi network as your TV.
2) Go to ‘System > Display’ on your device and select "Connect to a Wireless Display’"
3) Next, select your TV or casting device from the list (e.g. LG TV, Roku stick, or Chromecast). If you cannot see your smart TV (or casting device) listed in the available options, it’s likely that the devices are incompatible.

One of the best bits about Outsmarted is that along with the thousands of questions included with the six "core categories", it can also be expanded or personalised!
You have the option to boost your gaming fun with up to 80 additional question categories in our question store which you can purchase from the website or in the app!
These add-on categories include 80-100 questions each typically (full details for each pack are on the website listing) and the store includes something for everyone, from Harry Potter to 80s Hits, meaning you can customise your trivia fun to match your passions and keep your game nights ever evolving!
We have six core categories, with 6,500+ interactive, multimedia questions: TV, Films & Books, Quick Thinking, Pub Quiz, Back to School, Breaking News and Sound & Music. All these are suitable for adults, teens and junior players and cover a very broad range of topics from sports to trivia to puzzles and much, much more!
The Breaking News category is hot off the press every Friday, so you can keep your finger on the pulse of world events! The other core categories are updated from time to time to keep questions current. However, add-on packs are for limited use and contain the number of questions stated on the website description. Once they are completed, they are completed.
You can buy any – or all – of our additional packs on the Outsmarted website or directly through the app. You can also buy multipacks of categories, for example Movies & TV, which give you a 50% saving off buying the packs individually. Multipacks are only available on the website.
Multipacks are question categories sold together as part of a theme, for example the Family Challenge Multipack or Movies and TV, which give you a 50% saving off buying the packs individually. Multipacks are only available on the website.
Outsmarted comes with a 6,500+ question set for each of the following individual countries:
- Canada (English Only)
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Germany
- France
- The Netherlands
Each region has questions in the local language, and the set of questions themselves are different for each country. For example, if you’re playing with Germany set as your region, you’ll receive questions specific to German culture, TV, music, sports etc, along with global trivia questions. We have plent of Canada-themed questions, written in-country, for you to try!
You can change your region in the Outsmarted app at any time to play with that local question set, and you don’t need to pay extra to access any country's collection of questions.
However, please only purchase question packs from your own country’s website as the packs might not be suitable for every region and may not work in your region unless you purchased from the correct website. You can choose your correct regional website here.
No, sorry, not at this time. The Canadian version is only available in English. If you wish, you may set your language to French by choosing FR as your region in the app, but keep in mind two things:
- At present not all question packs are available in French!
- When you change your region to France, you will get questions tailored to France - so French news and culture.

STEP 1
Choose which of your devices you would like to use as the game host (main) device.
STEP 2
Download the Outsmarted app
STEP 3
Register using the licence key found in your Outsmarted game box and complete the registration form to unlock the host.
Please note: You can download the Outsmarted app to other joining devices, but you should only register on your main host device.
You can also watch a video on how to register the app here!
Click here to download the full instructions for the game, which includes a Quick Start guide. You can also access this in the app by tapping the book icon on the top right of your screen.
Every copy of Outsmarted includes:
- the game box
- the game board
- dice
- six hand-painted 3D genius miniature figurines
- the Outsmarted tablet stand
- your licence key - unique to each game owner.
Once you download and install the Outsmarted app, you’ll be able to access the 6,500+ interactive, multimedia questions pre-activated in the six core question categories. We have thousands of additional questions available across a wide range of add-on packs!
You can do this via the website, where you'll find a box at the bottom of page saying "Sign up for game updates & offers." Our mailing list is an awesome source of news, discounts, special offers, updates and information so we recommend all players remain on the list so they don't miss out! However, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any one of our emails!
Each game can have 2-6 players or teams. Teams can have up to 4 players, meaning you can have 24 players in total - or two hockey teams!
Up to you! Most games are between about 30 minutes to two hours, but you can opt for a time-limited game when you’re setting the game up. Need a cuppa (or a breather) in the middle of a game? You can pause Outsmarted…just like Netflix.
It sure is - this is one of the most important aspects of the game to us! Outsmarted has thousands of junior-level questions covering topics that kids love – why not challenge the kids to a quiz on Harry Potter, Disney V Pixar, or Animal Kingdom?
Across all our packs, we tailor the question language, question topic, and question difficulty to each of our three age ranges - juniors (8+), teens, and adults. Just set the age range for each player at the start of the game - our app then automatically adjusts question difficulty to ensure a level playing field!
(Please note not all categories are written for juniors, so please check the pack description before purchasing.)
Yes - Outsmarted is the world's first board game with remote play capabilities, allowing friends and family to join the game from anywhere! You will find a step-by-step guide to use remote play in the game instructions which you can download here or view in the app by tapping the book icon.
Outsmarted is essentially a board game and you cannot activate the app without purchasing the board game and using the licence key contained in the box.
However, if you own the game and don’t have the physical game board - for example, if you’re on holiday, then the game can be set up using two devices.
The first device starts the game and is therefore the host; the second device joins the game and has access to the virtual board.
In the app update 2.1 due out in May /June 2024, the host will be able to have the option to see the virtual board also, making use of the board optional.
If you have players or teams joining remotely, as the host (Outsmarted registered game owner), you’ll need to create their player and team profiles and instruct them to download the Outsmarted app on their own devices.
During the game set up, once you have selected your 6 question categories, you’ll move on to the waiting area, where a join-game code will be shown. You will need to provide this code to all joining players / teams for them to join on their own device.
Yes!
Outsmarted can be registered on up to three personal devices. However, remember NOT to try and register the app on multiple devices if you plan to use them in the same game! Only one registered device should be part of any one game. You may play with up to 6 additional devices in the same game, but the app does not need to be registered on any device but the host! We strongly recommend registering the app on only one device unless you have a clear reason to do so (such as getting a new phone or tablet).
Outsmarted requires:
- an internet connection
- iOS 14 or greater, Android 9 or greater or Windows 10 or greater
- a minimum of 2GB of available RAM (3GB recommended).
Outsmarted is not compatible with Fire tablets. Sorry, we can't provide support for MAC devices or Chromebooks.
Only the host device needs to be registered using the licence key. The “host device” is the device you use to start the game. Outsmarted can be registered on up to three personal devices - however, only the host device needs to be registered using the licence key. Whilst you might have reasons for wanting to register the game on more than one device, you should never play with more than one registered device in the same game as this may cause errors in the game.
So what device should I choose as the host?
This is up to you! However, we recommend it's best to use a device you will not use at the same time as playing Outsmarted (for example, sending texts), as this might cause Outsmarted to become unstable. If you receive a lot of notifications to your phone, it might be best to choose another device (such as a tablet or laptop) as the host device - you may still use your phone as a handheld game controller using the join-game code, but you don't need to register the app on it using the licence key.
The "host device" is the central command station for your gaming adventure! This is the device on which you need to register the app using the licence key. You can designate a laptop, phone, or tablet as your host device. Just remember, during the game, this device is dedicated solely to leading you through the twists and turns of Outsmarted—so no sneaky text checking or this might disrupt gameplay! If you think you might need your phone during play, we recommend using a different device as your host.
Only one main device is required to play. You can then connect up to six additional devices as handheld quiz controllers, for individual players and teams to use.
No!
One of the perks of Outsmarted is the flexibility it offers. Fancy using your own device as a game controller? Go for it! Or, if you prefer a more traditional vibe, appoint a "quizmaster" to handle all the answer inputs.
Just make sure everyone has a clear view of the screen! Our top tip for the best group experience? Gather around a "big screen." You can use a tablet (we include a handy stand), laptop, or - best of all - connect the app up to your TV! Download a guide to connect the app to your TV here.
If you have a new phone or tablet, you can simply install and register the app on the new device. You may register Outsmarted on up to three personal devices: however, we strongly reccommend that you do not use two devices in the same game if they are both registered with the licence key.
So what should I do to remove one of my devices as a registered device?
This process isn't achieved by simply uninstalling and reinstalling. To remove the device as a registered device follow the steps below (select the instructions based on your device).
To succeed, it is crucial that you perform EVERY STEP here:
Android
1. Close the Outsmarted app.
2. Go to Settings then Apps.
3. Find Outsmarted in the list of apps and tap on it.
4. Look for the button called Storage and tap on it.
5. You will see you have the option of Clear Data and Clear Cache.
6. Tap each of them in turn.
7. Uninstall Outsmarted.
8. Restart your device.
9. Download and install Outsmarted.
10. Start Outsmarted. You will be asked to register again.
11. Register your device then continue to play.
iOS - iPad or iPhone
1. Uninstall Outsmarted.
2. Power off your device.
3. Power on your device.
4. Download and install Outsmarted.
This will only work if you power OFF then power ON. You can now install the app on your device again, but this time DO NOT register it using the licence key. You can now simply use it as a game controller in your game by means of the join-game code the host device provides.
If you’re playing Outsmarted with junior players (8-12 years), you may notice some of the question categories are greyed out and not selectable. This means that these particular categories do not contain junior-level questions and cannot be used in a game which includes junior players.
This will be because your device is muted. In your browser, search for "unmute my xxx", substituting your device type and model number for “xxx”. Please be aware that even if your device is playing sounds through other apps such as YouTube, this fix will work – the Outsmarted app does not play sounds via the same mechanism as these apps!
One of the following will be the problem:
- One of the devices in the game doesn’t have the latest version of the app - please download the latest version of the app on every device.
- The join-game code is being mistyped by a joining player – make sure to use capitals and lower case exactly as displayed.
- The device which started the game (the host) is not waiting for the other players to join. The host must wait at the stage where the players appear behind their podiums, and until all joining players have a tick against their podium.
The talk function works if a player taps and holds the talk button. Only one player may talk at any one time. The talk option will only be available if the device owner said "Yes" when asked, at time of installing, whether they allow Outsmarted app to have access to audio. Many players find for remote games that it works best to use a separate device for a video call or group WhatsApp call before starting the game, to make talking and feeling part of things easier!
The most likely reason for this is an internet issue. You may have very fast internet speeds and still experience problems for a wide variety of reasons. We recommend completing a speed test online to establish the speed of your connection, as well as other diagnostics.
To test if the internet connection is causing the issue, we recommend that you temporarily turn wifi OFF on your device, then try the app again. Does the app work properly now? With wifi OFF, your device is forced to use the cell network for internet access. This test will confirm or disprove whether you have an issue with your wifi.
If this does not solve your problem, contact our support team for more help.
Outsmarted is a very stable app. If you are experiencing glitches or crashes, there are a few possible reasons and figuring out which is a process of elimination.
1) There is a problem with your connection to the internet
You might have a very fast internet service which is not causing you problems generally, but this doesn't rule out an internet issue causing your problem with Outsmarted. You can eliminate this as a possible cause by playing Outsmarted off wifi temporarily to see if this resolves the issue. If it does, you can get advice on how to resolve the issue by speaking with our technical experts who are here to help!
2) You are playing Outsmarted from a school or college router
School routers typically block any app not explicitly approved for student use. You can either ask your IT helper to enable these ports: UDP protocol ports 5058, 5055, and 5056, or you may create a tethered hotspot using your phone. The temporary hotspot you create can be used for the game host device to connect to, and play without being inhibited.
3) You are using the device for other things at the same time as playing Outsmarted
For example, sending texts, which might cause Outsmarted to become unstable. If this is causing an issue for you, you may wish to use another device as the host so you can continue using your phone whilst playing. A laptop or tablet is a good alternative if you are experiencing glitches whilst using your phone as the host device. You should never flick between windows on the host device while playing Outsmarted!
4) Your device does not meet the requirements to run Outsmarted
Outsmarted can run on most iOS, Android and Windows operating systems. Outsmarted requires an internet connection, iOS 14 or greater, Android 9 or greater, Windows 10 or greater and a minimum of 2GB of available RAM (3GB recommended). Outsmarted is not compatible with Fire tablets. We do not provide support for MAC devices or Chromebooks. It is also possible that your device meets these requirements, but is struggling to run the app for other reasons (for example the memory is too full or you have some other issue going on). We recommend trying a different device to test this.
5) The Outsmarted app has become corrupt for some reason on your device(s).
To resolve this, you need to completely remove the app from your device using these instructions.
If you are experiencing repeat questions, there are two possible causes:
1) You have completed the question category / pack!
If you are playing an add-on question pack (the ones you buy as extras), it’s likely that you have completed the pack and there are no new questions left to answer. Add-on packs are for limited use and once you have completed them, the pack is now used (like a video game you have completed!).
Question packs – what to expect
Outsmarted’s core categories contain a total of more than 6,500 questions. These "core" categories are: TV, Films & Books, Pub Quiz, Quick Thinking, Sound & Music, Back to School, and Breaking News. Breaking News is updated weekly with fresh questions and we ensure the others are kept generally current. Outsmarted contains two to three times as many questions as a traditional trivia game, so you'll get a lot of hours of play before you complete these Core categories.
Add-on question categories
The additional question categories available for purchase from the app store or the website contain (this can vary) 80 - 120 questions which may be split over different age ranges. Each category has a description on the website which will tell you how many questions are included. Typically, the packs are 100 questions for $3.29 - the equivalent of $0.03 per question! Once they are complete, if you continue to play them, you will get repeat questions.
If you're getting repeat questions in categories you haven't completed, then this is the likely cause...
2) Your device is not reporting correctly to our server
Your device reports to the Outsmarted server which questions you have already been asked (so the app knows not to ask them again). If you're getting repeat questions in incomplete categories, something is likely to be going wrong with this process. The things which might cause this to happen are:
Using multiple registered devices in the same game
We ask that you ensure you use only ONE registered device in any single game. Other devices can join the game using the join-game code:, they do not have to be registered to do so.
Improperly closing games
Outsmarted sends your question data back to the game server when you exit the app, either by the game coming to a conclusion with a winner and returning to the home screen, or by you choosing to exit to the home screen and starting a new game. If you quit the app mid-game by simply turning off your device or shutting the window, then question data will not be sent, which may result in questions being repeated.
If this advice doesn't solve your problem, we strongly recommend that you speak to our support team. We can run diagnostics remotely to see what is going on in your game and can help advise you on the steps needed to resolve it.
Don't worry, if one of the players loses connection for any reason, they should go back into the app and it will automatically reconnect.
